U7s Festival of Cricket
09 August 2015Festival of Cricket held at Shenfield CC
The U7 Shenfield Spitfires and Hurricanes played in a 4 way tournament with Herongate and Brentwood CC for the Peter Rider Challenge Shield.
Shenfield Spitfires and Herongate both won their first 2 games to set up an exciting final game to take the title.
Will Dowlen and Josh Judd got SCC off to a superb start after being put into bat by Herongate. George Sapsford and Beau Moody added to the great start adding a further 12 runs without loss. Harry McNeil and Ollie Cockerell added 14 runs to get SCC to 44 after 6 overs. Samuel Eade also hit some superb boundaries in the 3rd partnership before Jonny Pilgrim top scored for SCC with 15 runs from just 6 balls. His partnership with Max Philpott saw Shenfield reach a tournament high of 276 having lost just 1 wicket in the 10 over innings.
Shenfield then bowled and fielded superbly to restrict Herongate to 242 to see Shenfield to the title.
Shenfield's Hurricanes also made huge progress during the competition and showed great signs for the future. Sam and Max Kingsley top scoring.
Thanks to all the players that took part. Will Dowlen was the proud captain of SCC Spitfires to lift the Peter Rider Shield but on the day the game of Cricket was the real winner!
