Clinical display at Westcliff

Only two words can describe this performance, clinical and ruthless, after a 9 wicket thrashing of Westcliff-On-Sea.

Winning the toss, the hosts decided to bat first, which proved to be their undoing. Wickets for Jack Plom and Sam Bear in the third and fourth overs unsettled Westcliff as the pair got into their grooves. The pair took their second wickets in the ninth and tenth overs to reduce them to 24-4 with not much more batting to come. Sam was responsible for taking wickets five and six, and Jack responded by taking wicket seven. The 14th over was Sam's last and he had Captain Dave Hickey to thank by taking his third catch and giving Sam his second 5 for (7-1-27-5) for the 1's and his first this season. He was replaced by Tom Arnold who helped himself to a wicket thanks to a smart catch by Nathan Woods. Jack wrapped up the innings in the next over (9.2-2-21-4) to leave Westcliff all out for 55 inside the 19th over.

A quick turnaround saw George Ballington and Jamie Walton halve the deficit before George was our only wicket to fall, scoring 26. Ollie Ekers decided to save his enegy for later by smacking five fours in his unbeaten 20 as we hit our target in 61 balls, leaving 65 overs to spare!

Jack is currently the division's leading bowler with 26 wickets after eight games, Can he get to 50 before the end of the season? There will be other milestones for other players to achieve. This could be the season to get them.
