Tom Arnold makes his Essex 2nd XI debut

County 2nd XI debut for Arnold!

Congratulations to 1st team all-rounder Tom Arnold on making his debut for the Essex 2nd XI this week against Kent in Beckenham.

Considering he was playing in our 4th XI under the very popular leadership of Will Bowden as recently as May 2021 (probably more of a reflection on those responsible for selection than anything else...), it's been an incredible rise for Tom who has been a playing member of the club from the U9s onwards (pictured above centre of shot with the U9s Clubman of the Year award).

He went from bowling left arm leg spin not to long ago to making his 1st team debut in the Premier League as a genuine all-rounder with his left arm pace bowling in 2022, before being rewarded for very impressive showings in the Essex age group sides with both bat and ball over the past few years with an Essex Academy contract this winter.

We're very proud of Tom and what he's achieved in the game so far. His work ethic and attitude is superb and that will hold him in good stead as he looks to make his way in the professional game. We know this will be the first of many county 2nd XI appearances for Tom, with higher honours bound to follow.

If the weather allows for further play in the game, you can keep track of how he gets on via this link.

Good luck Tom!
